What was the highlight of Montein Hotel
Decent, budget stay (off-season) with a great public bath
We stayed at Montein hotel for a night between rail trips. The lowest price and one of the highest rated hotels in the area during february. Shuttle service from the station was convenient. The public bath was great, with a sauna, beautiful view, all the amenities and even a massage chair. Room was clean and not very small. The staff at the front desk was kind and effective. You also get a discount at a nearby yakiniku restaurant by showing your room key.
Shuttle service and breakfast don't start early enough to catch the first trains and no special accommodation regarding can be made on request. The buffet was already set at the starting time so i don't understand why we couldn't go 5-10 minutes earlier, even if it was during the preparations. The single elevator was quite busy most of the time. No amenities at the front desk, we had to pay even for water.

1. Teeny tiny rooms 2. The curtains let light in early in the morning 3. Soft mattresses 4. Mixer tap in sink did not mix the water well so that you can actually feel the stream of water coming out cold on one side and hot. Very uncomfortable. 5. Very very tiny bathroom. No hand grab rail to assist coming out of bath tub where you have to shower in. Non slip srea of bath tub is not located logically where one would stand to get out of bath tub. Danger of slipping. 6. Room is not very bright
